Have you watched or heard about the TV Series called Black Mirror?

It’s a futurist TV Series, unlike the other ones, in Black Mirror each episode has an independent story, each story with its moral.

The first episode of the third season stood out in my mind.

In this futuristic society, people are rated up to 5.0 scores regarding what they do (or don’t). The votes from high-income class people are more worthy than votes from middle or lower-class people. In other words, the rates given by rich and influential people are more valuable.

So, Anne (the protagonist) tries as much as she can to raise her grade from 4.0 to 4.2 to get a loan from the bank to buy the house of her dreams. In order to get it faster, she does her best to be a friend of someone who mocked her throughout her entire life, because this girl lives in a high-standard society and her friends are “important people.”

Anne fakes smiles. She pleases people she doesn’t like. She doesn’t help those who need her help because this person is mocked by their peers, and if so, she might receive lower rates due to her actions. She gives five stars to rude and impolite people just because she wants to receive back 5 stars.

She lives a life of appearances to no avail. As she got low ratings.

I wonder what if we live in such a “social credit” system I guess it would be like a prison. We would fake our thoughts, opinions, desires, to follow the crowd. Otherwise, we would be marginalized by society.

Here’s this episode explained.

Would you pretend to be a person you aren’t for the benefit of being accepted?

Please, let me know your thoughts about that in the comments below.

Thank you for reading.

See you next time.
